bah, all the snow is gone now...here i was, getting ready to get of the gt snow racer. Only one more day till i'm done at the station for a few weeks off. I mean, i love it at cfmu, but it does suck up alot of my free time...and on that note, i'm off to fill in for bleeps and hums tonight. I think i'll be playing many songs with beats. My monday show is normally drones and tones. So this wil be some hip-hop, and various froms of electronic music. Hmm, maybe i'll do a folk/acoustic/alt.country (i hate that word) fill-in soon too...

That's right. I'm back to talk about music. Why? Talking about politics on the web seems useless. Talking about politics on livejournal is even worse. If anyone cares to talk about the canadian steel industry and the consequences of a chinese floating currency, please contact me off line. Music:A Silver Mt Zion will be coming to Hamilton on January 24th. You can get tix now at the underground. This is going to be a sick sick sick show :) Talked to Sandro Perri last night at the Beef Terminal concert. We might see him and Hanged Up here in Hamilton, maybe... till then, neverwhere on Mondays: http://cfmu.mcmaster.ca
Yeah, I know it's a cliche, but it's true. I never bother to update this because honestly I prefer to talk to people I know in person (or atleast msn). I love being in poli sci at McMaster. It lets me talk with and learn from some brillant people, but I don't have the ego to think that a stranger cares this much about what I have to say about politics in a livejournal format. So, in the real world I'm having fun with these things: Radio Shows over at CFMU: Listen online: http://cfmu.wwworks-inc.com:8000/listen.plsMon: Noon - 12:30 Hazel I and guests host a discussion show on international relations issues. Topics lacking in media exposure, with added context and comment and always interesting interviews. Mon: 2-3pm Ambient/eletronic/post-whatever music. I promise to finish neverwhere.ca one day :) This summer I helped put together the soundtracks to two montain bike feature films. Front2 and Eastern Standard 2. Check them out at www.dropmachine.com and http://www.fasttimesinc.com/Otherwise, I'm helping out a bit with the Futursonic series here in Hamilton. Building Castles out of Matchsticks, I Am Robot and Proud, Thomas Jirku, Polmo Polpo, Beef Terminal and Tinkertoy have all been part of this series. A Silver Mt Zion (Jan 21st) and Go Gaja will be coming in the new year too. Yay music! So yeah, the off line word seems like a much more hopeful, positive and less cynical place where people seem to get along more. rock on, and gimme a shout on msn if any of this stuff seems of interest: thompsmr_T@hotmail.com Sat, Sep. 13th, 2003, 08:04 am
The new Polmo Polpo album is definetly going to play as a good counter-point to Manitoba's Up In Flames. Dan Manitoba Snaith's album works so well at the beginning of summer. The new Polmo Polpo being the best late-summer album I've heard in so long. Do check it out here Sat, Sep. 13th, 2003, 07:48 am
The answer to all of our questions? "The Rothschilds, Rockefellers, the British royal family, and the ruling political and economic families of the US and the rest of the world come from these SAME bloodlines. It is not because of snobbery, it is to hold as best they can a genetic structure - the reptilian-mammalian DNA combination which allows them to "shape-shift". This site explains it all: For those in Ontario, I only offer this evidence: All that being said, I'm going to follow Occam's Razor on this one. Fri, Sep. 12th, 2003, 11:02 am
Johnny Cash has died today.
I feel a much greater loss then with his death then with any of the young rock n' roll martyrs (Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Vicious, Curtis, etc...) Johnny Cash made amazing music for nearly 50 years, something I can't imagine any of those others doing.
The rock and roll myth is a lie: It's not a matter of burning out vs fading away. The man in black proved them all wrong. Wed, Sep. 10th, 2003, 06:36 pm
From the new Do Make Say Think album:
"Outer inner + Secret, Horns of a Rabbit, Fredericia, Ontario Plates". Recorded Jan 2003 at the Rockwood 2 Farmhouse. Rockwood, Ont.
Rockwood, Ont: When I was 16, I bought my dog from this small down far north of Oakville. When I was 18, I met an amazing girl (now fiance) from there. Her + her loving family soon made this place my second home. I made her a mix cd, the first song on it by DMST. When I was 21, I found out my nana used to visit a farm there 70 years ago, on the same land said amazing girl now lives. At 22, I will be married in Rockwood one amazing day next summer.
It's funny how things can come together.

RIAA Sues 12-Year Old File SwapperSettles for $2000Thankfully, by taking $2000 from a single mother living in public housing, the RIAA will strike a major blow against file sharing. Tomorrow, I shall play a game a Jenga, and hope that atleast someone from the RIAA suffers greatly. |
